Agent claims United have pulled out of Moura deal
Alex Ferguson confirmed his interest in the 19-year-old winger in Shanghai earlier this week, but denied claims the two clubs had reached agreement over a £26 million transfer.
Now Ribeiro has warned United they have little chance of prising the teenager away from South America unless they match Sao Paulo’s valuation, which is significantly higher.
Ribeiro said: “They have reached their limit, they will not offer anything more. He will not leave. He is happy in Sao Paulo.
“This matter has to be terminated, there is no possibility of him leaving now. Manchester United made an offer which was refused, and will not do another because they came up to their limit.”
Liverpool chairman Tom Werner, meanwhile, has insisted manager Brendan Rodgers will have the final say on the future of Andy Carroll.
Werner said: “At the moment, Andy is on the squad. He was an important member of the English team, he has got a lot of talent and we will see what happens there.
“Brendan is clearly the leader here, and hopefully the question will be answered shortly.’’
Thorgan Hazard, meanwhile, will join his older brother Eden at Stamford Bridge next season after Chelsea confirmed his signing from Lens.
The 19-year-old had only played 11 times for the Ligue 2 club but the Blues clearly see some potential in Hazard, who had just a year remaining on his contract at Lens, although they revealed the midfielder could be immediately loaned to another club.
Elsewhere QPR have discussed the prospect of signing Craig Bellamy, vice-chairman Amit Bhatia has revealed.
Bellamy, who is entering the final year of his contract at Liverpool, played under QPR boss Mark Hughes both for Wales and at Manchester City and Blackburn.
Bhatia said: “Craig is definitely a name that has been mentioned, a name we’ve discussed. There are a few options. We have been a fan of Craig Bellamy for the last few years, ever since he became available — that’s not to say we have not been fans of other players.’’
Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has agreed a new long-term contract with the club.
The Gunners, who saw midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong charged with improper conduct yesterday following recent comments on Twitter, have been linked with a £16m bid for Spain winger Santi Cazorla but manager Arsene Wenger, speaking after a 2-1 friendly win over an a Malaysia XI, said no deal was imminent for any player.
