Balotelli central to Prandelli’s plans

Ireland look set to face Mario Balotelli when they play Italy in their final group game in the European Championships in June.

The controversial Manchester City striker had blotted his copybook with Cesare Prandelli to such an extent that it looked like he might be left out of the Italian squad for the finals but the manager has now made it clear that Balotelli remains central to his plans.

“I never really thought of doing this without Balotelli, he is the focal point of the national team,” said Prandelli.
