Putin last week met with a Russian fans group who told him the air fares to travel to Poland and the Ukraine were too expensive. According to reports in Moscow, the Prime Minister promptly contacted the country’s two largest air companies, Aeroflot and Transaero, who indicated they would be willing to comply for the tournament.

“We’re ready to participate, but it is still in the discussion stage,” a Transaero spokesman said. Our partner, the Gazpromneft-Aero company is in agreement to supply the fuel for the flight to Kiev.”
