MANCHESTER CITY have fined Carlos Tevez four weeks’ wages after finding him guilty of misconduct, the club announced last night.

The player has also been warned as to his future conduct following an investigation into his behaviour on the bench during last month’s Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich.

The 27-year-old, who attended a disciplinary hearing last Friday, was also suspended for two weeks but that punishment is deemed to have already been served.

Tevez was suspended for two weeks while City conducted their investigation into claims by manager Roberto Mancini that he refused to come on as a substitute during the game at the Allianz Arena on September 27.

Tevez denied those allegations and blamed a misunderstanding, saying he had merely refused to warm up, something he deemed unnecessary as he had already done so.

The club, however, in a statement posted on their website, have found the Argentinian guilty of five breaches of contract. Tevez has 14 days to decide whether to appeal.

After studying the evidence during a “detailed investigation’’, a disciplinary panel for the club concluded that Tevez did refuse to play.

They found Tevez had not fulfilled “an obligation to participate in any matches in which the player is selected to play for the club when directed by a club official”.

Among the other contractual breaches, Tevez was also found not to have followed the instructions of his manager.

The statement also added that Tevez had not fulfilled other required duties, breached the rules of various governing bodies and broken an obligation not to bring the game into disrepute or damage the club.

If Tevez appeals the decision and loses, he would have the right to a second appeal to the Premier League.

That whole process could see the saga run into December.
