Limerick hit six

LIMERICK FC kept their promotion hopes very much alive with a 6-0 rout of basement boys Wexford Youths at Jackman Park last night.

Limerick hit six

Jeff Judge blasted home superbly from 25 yards on 19 minutes and added an equally impressive second nine minutes later with a low 20-yard drive. Paudie Quinn trebled that advantage with a near-post header from a Shane Tracy cross.

Ten minutes after the break Karl Keogh deflected a Tracy flick-on from a Rory Gaffney corner into his own net while Denis Behan made it five with a 60th-minute penalty.

The same player completed the six-star show for the home side with a low volley from a Quinn cross five minute from time.

Monaghan United had a dramatic and vital 3-2 victory over Longford Town in a thriller at Gortakeegan.

Sean Brennan put United ahead in the eighth minute with a superb dipping volley but Town levelled the penalty spot two minutes later, captain Mark Salmon converting after Aidan Collins had felled Thomas Crawley.

In the 41st minute, a cracking left-foot volley from Thomas Crawley sent Longford into the lead.

The inspirational Sean Brennan drilled home a 49th-minute equaliser for the Mons and in the last minute of added time, Ryan Brennan — brother of Sean — stroked his shot coolly home to secure the points for the Mons.
