Wolves optimistic about O’Hara transfer
Moxey confirmed negotiations had been “positive” with O’Hara after the player enjoyed a successful loan spell at Wolves in the second half of last season.
O’Hara scored three goals in 13 games and played an important part in ensuring Wolves’ Premier League survival.
Moxey said: “Discussions are ongoing and positive but that is all we wish to say at this point.”
Meanwhile Real Madrid midfielder Kaka will not join Inter Milan this summer, according to the Italian club’s president Massimo Moratti.
Moratti vehemently denied reports in Gazzetta dello Sport that Inter would accept a swap deal that would see Brazilian full-back Maicon move to Real Madrid and Kaka join the Nerazzurri this summer.
“These are all lies,” Moratti said. “It’s absolutely not true.”
Didier Deschamps will see out the final year of his contract as coach of Marseille, according to a senior club official. There had been speculation Deschamps, who captained France to World Cup glory in 1998, would leave the club this summer.
Elsewhere Carlo Ancelotti will take a one-year sabbatical from coaching after his departure from Chelsea last month, according to reports in Italy.
The Italian, 51, told Italian newspaper La Stampa: “I am in no hurry to coach and I don’t need to. I have not been contacted by any club in England and I have not spoken to Roma. It is all fantasy.”
Ancelotti’s decision could be a blow to Aston Villa, who were reportedly among those looking to secure his services. Ancelotti has also been linked with the Fulham job and a coaching position at newly-promoted QPR.
“Besides a six-month break, I have been coaching non-stop since 1995. I will take a year off and look around, study how my colleagues work. I have always said, and I reiterate it, that one day I will coach Roma — but it’s still early.”
