Fergie unimpressed by angry Olly outburst
Ferguson’s Premier League leaders visit Bloomfield Road tomorrow and Ferguson has chuckled along as Holloway has publicly derided the £4million so far offered by Liverpool and Aston Villa for the Seasiders’ prize asset.
Speaking after Holloway’s recent tirade, Ferguson decided to give his opinion of matters.
Ferguson said: “I’ve had him (Holloway) bending my bloody ear on the phone. He’s never got a penny, always pleading poverty.
“You end up crying after he comes off the phone, feeling sorry for himself. He’s always been that way, for loans and so on. Even when he was dealing with (£350,000) signing Craig Cathcart from us, he was saying ‘I can’t afford him’. Now he says he is the best signing he’s made!
“Of course he thinks the offers are not enough! When he goes for a player, his view is the asking price is ‘bloody disgraceful, bleeding the country dry’. Then somebody tries to buy his players and he demands top money!”
Ferguson does, however, believe Holloway has done a brilliant job with the promoted outfit.
He concluded: “No doubt the manager of the year so far is Ian Holloway. I watched their play-off game, when they won 3-2. It was end to end and I thought there was no way they can carry on like that. But they have. They’ve been a breath of fresh air – they’ve been positive and lit up the game.
“I think they can keep it going and they won’t do a Hull, who collapsed in the second half of their first season.
“Blackpool are so positive. They are throwing four or five players forward into the box to get on the end of crosses all the time.
“They are really having a go and saying if we’re going to fail, lets fail gloriously.”
