Barca confirm Henry and Toure to leave Camp Nou

BARCELONA last night confirmed Thierry Henry and Yaya Toure are to leave the club.

Both players were widely expected to leave the Nou Camp this summer, with Henry tipped to move to Major League Soccer in America and Toure thought to be on the verge of a switch to Manchester City. Henry, who moved to Camp Nou from Arsenal for €24 million in 2007, has not produced his form of old during his time in Spain and is not in Pep Guardiola’s plans for next season.

Henry’s contract was due to run until June 2011 but a deal has been reached allowing the Frenchman to depart Catalonia. A statement on Barcelona’s website read: “Barcelona director general Joan Oliver has said that the club has agreed the exits of Yaya Toure and Thierry Henry, but that at the moment the final moves are in their hands.”

Meanwhile Real Madrid have agreed to sign Argentina winger Angel Di Maria on a six-year deal.

The 22-year-old, who is currently with the Argentina squad at the World Cup in South Africa, will move to the Bernabeu from Benfica for a reported €25m.

A statement on Madrid’s website read: “Real Madrid and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Angel di Maria. The player will sign a six-year contract with Real Madrid.”
