Meyler agrees new contract

SUNDERLAND’S Irish midfielder David Meyler has been rewarded for his fine form for the Black Cats with a new deal keeping him at the club until 2015.

Meyler and fellow young star Jordan Henderson agreed new five-year deals with the club. Henderson, 19, and former Cork City player Meyler, 20, have committed their futures until 2015 after breaking into Steve Bruce’s first team this season.

Bruce said: “I have been delighted with the way Jordan and David have applied themselves since I arrived at the club, and credit has to go to the academy staff for the fantastic work they do with our young players.
