Pressure still on to avoid drop, insists Doyle

WOLVES might be five points and four places clear of the drop zone, but Kevin Doyle knows from bitter experience that you can’t afford any hint of complacency in a Premiership run-in.

“I wish the pressure was off but we’re not safe,” he says, ahead of Sunday’s game against Stoke at Molineux. “I was in a situation with Reading a few seasons ago where we said with five or six weeks to go that one win and we would be fine. We got that win on the last day of the season and we still went down on goal difference. We are a few points away from it now and it’s in our own hands. We probably do need two more wins and hopefully we get them sooner rather than later. We certainly don’t want it going down to the last game of the season.”

The 26-year-old Irish striker has been earning plaudits for his lone striker role as Wolves bid to secure their Premiership status for another season and it’s a challenge he says he relishes.
