Kearney joins Waterford

WATERFORD UNITED yesterday completed the signing of Liam Kearney from Derry City.

Kearney joins Waterford

The former Cork City winger, who turned 27 this week, arrives on Suirside on a one-year deal, with manager Stephen Henderson bidding to secure promotion from the League of Ireland First Division.

Kearney has two league medals, with City and Shelbourne, while he also went on to win the FAI Cup and Setanta Cup, both while on Leeside. A broken leg hampered his season in 2009.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted FAI Ford Cup champions Sporting Fingal have secured the signature of former Shelbourne and Bohemians striker Glen Crowe.

Crowe, capped twice by Ireland at senior level during the 2002/3 season, becomes the fifth pre-season signing for Fingal ahead of their debut campaign in the top flight.

“Glen is a proven goalscorer and I believe he’ll add quality to our group,” said manager Liam Buckley.

“There are not many full internationals in the domestic game and he’s gained considerable experience at the top end of the Premier Division over the decade.”

Elsewhere, St Patrick’s Athletic have added striker Vinnie Faherty to their squad.
