Keane second richest manager
A new survey has revealed the Cork man is the second wealthiest manager currently working in British football.
According to the latest figures from the FourFourTwo.com Rich List, the former Sunderland manager has amassed an estimated fortune of £27 million (€29.2m) during his career, £3m (€3.25m) shy of England coach Fabio Capello who tops the list.
Keane broke the £100,000-a-week wage barrier during his Old Trafford days and his outspoken nature has served him well with the hardback and paperback editions of his autobiography becoming international bestsellers.
Capello, meanwhile, earns an annual salary of £6.5m (€7m).
Keane’s mentor Alex Ferguson is in third place with Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti in fourth.
Former England coach, Sven-Goran Eriksson is back among this year’s list having returned to English football as director of football at Notts County.
Eriksson has amassed a fortune of £15m (€16.2m), the same as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp, Liverpool supremo Rafael Benitez, Aston Villa chief Martin O’Neill Manchester City boss Mark Hughes make up the top 10.
The survey found that QPR shareholder Lakshmi Mittal is the richest man in British football.
The London-based Indian steel magnate, who owns a 20% stake in the Loftus Road club, is worth an estimated £18.4billion (€20bn).
Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan is in second spot with a fortune of £17bn (€18.4bn).
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is third with a fortune of £7.8bn (€8.45bn).
David Beckham is in a league of his own in terms of player value, with a fortune of £125m (€135.5m).
The England and Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder is well clear of Manchester United pair Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney who have earned £38m (€41m) and £37m (€40m) respectively).
Two more United players, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs make up the top five.
