Aldo calls on Stephen to answer Ireland’s call

JOHN ALDRIDGE believes that the sooner Stephen Ireland rallies to the Irish cause, the better for all concerned.

With just three games to go in the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign, the former Ireland and Liverpool striker thinks this is the perfect moment for the Manchester City man to end his exile.

“If we did qualify for South Africa and then he came in I’m sure a lot of people would still welcome him with open arms but, from his own point of view, if the cavalry’s got to come, then come now,” said Aldridge.
