Ireland: I want a stand named after me
The Irish midfielder has enjoyed a superb season in the heart of City’s midfield and surprisingly lost out to Ashley Young in the voting for PFA Young Player of the Year award. With Mark Hughes’s side looking to derail Manchester United’s title charge in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford tomorrow the 22-year-old says he hopes to emulate the achievements of United legends Scholes and Giggs.
“I would like to achieve at City what Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs have done at United. They have been fantastic servants to the club and won cupboards full of medals,’’ Ireland said.
