Andrews ready to walk with giants
Keith Andrews doesn’t need any reminding. As a seven-year-old, he’d watched on television at his home in Dublin as Houghton famously put one over on England in Euro ‘88 but, by the time US ‘94 came around, he had an even better vantage point as the Scot cemented his Irish sporting immortality with the winner against Italy in Giants Stadium.
Recalls Andrews: “I was lucky enough to go to the States in ‘94 with my uncle – we had relatives over there — and I was behind the goal that Ray Houghton scored in so obviously it was probably the best memory. It was massive.”
