Bohs await vital Dalymount verdict

ANOTHER League of Ireland club has another day in court today as Bohemians prepare themselves for the verdict in a dispute which has held up its move from Dalymount Park to a new green-field site near Dublin airport.

Bohs await vital Dalymount verdict

Having agreed to sell Dalymount to property developer Liam Carroll in a deal worth €58 million — and which included the building of a new 10,000-seat stadium in Harristown — the new league champions became involved in a legal dispute with another company over ownership of a small portion of land on the famous Phibsborough site.

With the move to relocate stalled pending the settlement of that High Court dispute and amid concern that the whole project could even be jeopardised if the verdict goes against Bohemians, growing unease about spending at the club and other issues has been expressed by some of its members.

In the face of that pressure, Bohs President Gerry Cuffe recently announced his intention to step down at the end of the season.

Stating that he was unhappy with the negative publicity surrounding the club, Cuffe sent a letter to all members in which he described recent months as “the most fractious, divisive and unenjoyable period” in his 19 years on the board.

Cuffe said that he was also disappointed that protesting members had pushed to hold an EGM in Dublin last night, even though he said that club were committed to holding same at the end of the season.
