O’Shea’s loyalty pays off

IF John O’Shea ever had any doubts about committing his long term future to Manchester United, Wednesday’s visit to the Luznicki Stadium will provide a powerful reminder of why the versatile defender-cum-midfielder opted to remain part of Alex Ferguson’s squad rather than seek first team football elsewhere.

O’Shea, 27, signed a three-year contract last November that will keep him at the club until 2012, a move that has already borne fruit with the addition of a third Premier League winners medal. That accolade could be joined by a Champions League trophy if Ferguson’s side can inflict a second disappointment on Chelsea this week having pipped Avram Grant’s side to the title.

“You never hear a story of a Man Utd player wanting to leave,” he said. “That will never change because of the type of place it is and the standards they set. It is great to be a part of it.
