A million tickets too few for Athens

UEFA chiefs admit they will not be able to satisfy fans’ demand for tickets for the Champions League final — and that even a stadium seating a million people would sell out.

Liverpool and Milan will each receive more than 20,000 tickets for the final on May 23 at the 72,000-capacity Athens Olympic Stadium.

UEFA communications director William Gaillard said “Our advice to fans is always not to travel without a ticket because we do not want them to be exploited by ticket touts, but of course people are free to travel if they wish.”
