Shelbourne accept First Division fate

SHELBOURNE have decided not to appeal their demotion from the Premier Division but the club will appeal conditions attached to the awarding of their First Division licence by the FAI.

Yesterday’s announcement, released just before the 5pm deadline set for any appeal, means that the eircom League 2007 has finally been given the green light, with reigning champions Shels set to begin their campaign with a First Division game against Kildare County at Tolka Park on March 9.

Waterford United, who replace the Dublin club in the top tier, will kick off their season with a home game against Cork City on the same night.
