O’Callaghan red card rescinded

IPSWICH won their appeal to have the red card received by George O’Callaghan against Watford on Saturday rescinded by the FA.

The midfielder was dismissed for an alleged stamp on defender Dan Shittu in Town’s FA Cup defeat.

However, the FA upheld O’Callaghan’s appeal after he claimed he did not deliberately aim a kick at Shittu.

“I always felt it was harsh and we’re delighted we were successful,” said manager Jim Magilton.

O’Callaghan, who would have served a three-match ban had the suspension been upheld, was not included in the Ipswich squad against Wolves last night.
