NEWCASTLE boss Glenn Roeder has denied attempting to cover up the racism row involving midfielder Emre.

A report yesterday suggested the 51-year-old went to the Everton dressing room after the game to apologise on the Turkish international’s behalf knowing the allegations could be true.

However, Roeder insists he did so simply to calm the situation. In a statement released last night, he said: “I strongly deny any suggestion of attempting or being part of a crude cover-up to anything in our game at Everton on December 30.
