The forgettable fire

TALK about the year of living dangerously for the FAI. As if it wasn’t enough that Steve Staunton had a gun pulled on him at the Irish team hotel, this week saw a disgruntled Dundalk fan threatening to torch the Association’s headquarters in Dublin.

Happily the only thing that was sparked was a major security alert. And since no-one was injured and little damage was done, we can now safely observe that there will be need for a follow-up to Brendan Menton’s FAI opus ‘Behind The Green Door’.

This one to be called: ‘Behind The Black Door’.
