Canaries hit by Haynes double

DANNY HAYNES came off the bench to score twice as Ipswich beat their East Anglian rivals Norwich at Portman Road for the first time in eight years.

Not since a 5-0 romp in February 1998 have the Tractor Boys recorded a home victory over their fierce rivals, but Sylvain Legwinski and Haynes changed that.

Town were on top for almost the whole game, but fell behind against the run of play to a debut goal from Luke Chadwick.

But Legwinski levelled just before half-time, and the introduction of Haynes for Billy Clarke paid off as he headed in with just his second touch.

And he rounded off the win in stoppage time with a fine first-time curling effort that went in off the far post.

Norwich manager Peter Grant accused his players of having “lazy minds” after the defeat.

“We were awful,” Grant blasted. “We were very poor. There are no excuses.”
