Ferguson: criticism of Allardyce is silly

ALEX FERGUSON has laughed off the “silly” Barclays Premiership managers who attack the tactics of Bolton boss Sam Allardyce.

Liverpool’s Rafael Benitez is a particular opponent of Bolton’s perceived long-ball style and rarely wastes an opportunity to offer a negative opinion about the Trotters.

The remarks often smack of paranoia, particularly as Benitez has still not managed to record a win at the Reebok Stadium despite the obvious gulf in quality between his own squad and Bolton.
