Leeds make Wise move
Swindon gave permission for Wise and his County Ground assistant Gus Poyet to begin negotiations with the Coca-Cola Championship strugglers, on Monday.
Talks were swiftly concluded and both Wise and Poyet, who becomes his Elland Road number two, will start work today.
Also joining Leeds is goalkeeping coach Andrew Beasley.
Wise, 39, made his name in the Wimbledon side who won the 1988 FA Cup and later went on to captain Chelsea.
With former Chelsea chairman Ken Bates now in control at Leeds, Wise was quickly backed as a likely successor when Kevin Blackwell was sacked on September 20.
Wise and Poyet were both due at last night’s Carling Cup third-round match against Southend, but given the timing of their appointments they were due to watch from the stands.
Leeds struggled under interim boss John Carver and following a 5-1 defeat at Luton on Saturday they stand 23rd in the Championship, just a point clear of bottom side Hull.
