Spurs’ Chimbonda bid refused

TOTTENHAM may be forced to look elsewhere for a new right-back after Wigan boss Paul Jewell insisted Pascal Chimbonda would not leave until their £6million price tag was met.

So far, despite two bids for the player, Spurs have failed to persuade Wigan to part with the player.

The signing of Emmerson Boyce from Crystal Palace on Tuesday increased speculation that Chimbonda would soon be allowed to quit the JJB Stadium, but Jewell has told Spurs to forget about any deal until they reach the asking price.

Tottenham’s latest bid of £3.5million plus Republic of Ireland winger Andy Reid was rejected on Monday.

Meanwhile Spurs will bank an initial £14million from Manchester United following the sale of Michael Carrick.
