Southgate sets his sights on full-back Arca

MIDDLESBROUGH boss Gareth Southgate will attempt to sign Sunderland full-back Julio Arca if he loses Franck Queudrue to Fulham.

The 25-year-old Argentinean is understood to be in talks with Boro over a proposed move to the Riverside Stadium with Queudrue having revealed his desire to leave.

Arca, who played behind Boro winger Stewart Downing during his loan spell with the Black Cats three seasons ago, is also wanted by Spanish side Espanyol, although their valuation of £550,000 is way below what his current club would accept.
