Middlesbrough on verge of finalising £5m deal for Huth

MIDDLESBROUGH were yesterday still working towards completing their move for Chelsea defender Robert Huth.

The 21-year-old German international arrived on Teesside to undergo two days of medical tests with a view to sealing a £5m switch.

That process was continuing yesterday with Huth having spent most of his country’s World Cup finals campaign on the bench.

The fee and personal terms were agreed last month, but the player’s involvement with his national squad meant the deal could not be finalised until now.

New manager Gareth Southgate will continue his search for reinforcements with a series of targets in his sights, but in the meantime, will continue to come to terms with his new role.
