Sheffield United are expected to make a £500,000 bid for Mills next week and Pearce is expected to follow up his interest in 29-year-old Harte and release him from his Spanish hell.

Harte has been told by the club President that he can quit Levante, who he joined in 2004, in a couple of weeks' time, after their push for promotion to the Primera Liga.

It is understood that the Drogheda-born left back would be available on a free transfer, despite having two years left on his contract.
