Late equaliser no more than we deserved, says Pardew
The leveller came deep into stoppage time but was reward for West Ham's second-half endeavour and appetite in the closing stages.
"We were chasing the game and in the end got everything we deserved," said Pardew. "Anton did a silly little dance on the pitch but I was too busy celebrating that we'd got something out of it. This was one for the fans today. And it sets us up for next week."
Manchester United await then, but yesterday West Ham looked set to finish up empty-handed after Egyptian striker Mido's fourth goal of the season - a clever lofted header over the stranded Shaka Hislop in the 16th minute - put Tottenham in charge.
However the 6ft 6in Hislop's appearance in the Tottenham area in the dying moments unnerved the home defence and created space for centre-back Ferdinand to head home Matthew Etherington's corner.
"It's been a tough old week for Anton," said Pardew. "He's had the two England Under-21 play-off games against France and now he scores a last-minute goal. I was delighted because in the first half I felt we hadn't played enough.
"We were never going to win a battle against their centre-backs, with Mark Noble making his Premiership debut and Yossi Benayoun, but they came good. We were bushy-tailed and energetic all the way through.
"Shaka had some of the blame for Tottenham's goal but Mido made it look easy. And when a big guy like him (Hislop) comes into your box for a last-minute corner it can have an effect. It was something I asked him to do.
"He's had a great week with Trinidad after they qualified for the World Cup and I could see him connecting with one and putting it into the net, but Anton got there first.
"It's a great moment for him, but he can learn because his brother Rio's been through it all already."
Tottenham boss Martin Jol said he left former West Ham striker Jermain Defoe on the bench until the last 10 minutes because he felt it about time Robbie Keane was given his chance to impress.
"I've picked Jermain 12 times this season and it was time for Robbie to relieve him of some of the burden. They are both talented players," said Jol. But I can't remember us giving a game away here like we did today. We needed to kill them off with another goal or in another way - by taking the ball into the corners of the pitch.
"But we had a situation with Michael Dawson giving away the last corner and we were caught with it."
Jol would not be drawn on tasteless chants from West Ham fans towards Egyptian goalscorer Mido.
Jol said: "That's a rhetorical question and you've answered it yourself. The Spurs fans gave Teddy Sheringham a marvellous reception and what they do is their responsibility."
