Drogba ‘homesick’ since coming to Chelsea

CHELSEA striker Didier Drogba admits he is “homesick” and feels he has struggled to adapt to life in England.

The 27-year-old Ivory Coast hitman has largely flattered to deceive at Stamford Bridge since his £24 million (€34.8m) move from Marseille last summer, and reports have linked the club with a £30m (€43.5m) approach for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o.

Drogba, who scored 16 goals this season as Chelsea won the Premiership and Carling Cup, insists he will still be with Jose Mourinho’s team next season but concedes his switch across the English Channel has not gone as smoothly as he would have liked.

“I feel homesick,” Drogba said yesterday. “Life in England is not easy. I had to get used to it but I did not, not completely anyway.

“Football in England is exceptional, I came to experience that. I cannot say that I am unhappy in Chelsea considering that I have just won the first two trophies of my career and reached the Champions League semi-final, but it’s true I have not always been happy.”
