ALEX FERGUSON will put his trust in misfiring striker Ruud van Nistelrooy when Manchester United launch their latest Champions League quest at Old Trafford tonight.

The Dutch front-man has scored just one Premiership goal in open play since last March and missed two gilt-edged opportunities in the 1-0 defeat at Leeds on Saturday.

Ahead of the clash with Israeli champions Maccabi Haifa, van Nistelrooy claimed yesterday he was not panicking, even though his team-mates' own lack of success in the goalscoring department has exposed his failings even further.
