Ramblers stage spirited comeback to keep their Cup hopes alive
Cobh were down to 10 men after the dismissal of centre-forward Kieran O'Reilly in the 67th minute for a second yellow card offence for dissent and when they fell behind to a clever goal from Colin P O'Brien with only 10 minutes to play they looked dead and buried.
But Cobh put their difficulties behind them to stage a dramatic closing rally and the small attendance thrilled to their spirited drive for survival. Limerick's Dave Conway had to take a header off the goal-line from Robert Brosnan and goalkeeper John Healy had to produce a blinding save from James Cummins' powerful shot from 25 yards as Cobh tried mightily to regain equality. Cobh's rally finally paid off with a goal in the 87th minute. A corner from the left by Stephen Yelverton was met in the air by sub Chris O'Shea for a header from 10 yards that flew past the keeper to set up a replay on Tuesday in Limerick.
