Kerr lawyers question FAI

BRIAN KERR’S lawyers have written to the FAI in response to comments made by the association’s chief executive John Delaney in a newspaper interview.

Kerr lawyers question FAI

Kerr is said to be seeking redress for what is claimed to be a “clear and deliberate breach of a legal agreement” made between the former Republic of Ireland manager and the FAI.

Amongst other things, Delaney is reported to have said the fear factor for teams visiting Lansdowne Road disappeared under Kerr and he found interesting Damien Duff’s comment that Ireland had played “like a pub team” during the World Cup qualifier in Cyprus.

According to a statement issued last night, Kerr is “disappointed” by the comments and “concerned by the inappropriate and mischievous presentation of the facts concerning his management.

The statement alleged the comments represented “a clear breach of an agreement between him and the Association”.

This agreement presumably relates to a “confidentiality clause” which both parties subscribed to after Kerr’s contract was not renewed following Ireland’s failure to qualify for the World Cup finals in Germany.
