Saha slams Fulham over missing ‘chance of my life’ to join United

LOUIS SAHA has blasted Fulham for ruining the “chance of my life” by refusing to sell him to Manchester United.

Saha slams Fulham over missing ‘chance of my life’ to join United

Despite claims from Fulham owner Mohamed al Fayed that he was “fed up” with Alex Ferguson’s efforts to prise the striker away, Saha has reportedly given the strongest indication yet that he wants to move to Old Trafford.

He told the French paper, L’Equipe: “A transfer to Manchester was a good deal for everyone.

“United offered £8 million which was excellent for Fulham. I am not Ronaldo and this was a good opportunity for me to join one the greatest clubs in the world. It was the chance of my life.

“It is obvious that Manchester will not try to get me again in six months’ time, because they will have found another striker by then.

“I really don’t understand the president’s opinion. I gave a lot to Fulham, they could have done me that favour.”

Saha has scored 14 goals this season as Fulham have climbed to fifth place in the Premiership. Mr Al Fayed insists the squad must be kept together as the Cottagers aim to gain European football next term.

Mr Al Fayed had said: “I am fed up with Alex Ferguson trying to disrupt my club and indirectly trying to unsettle my players.

“Ever since Fulham beat United at Old Trafford so convincingly he has been showing signs of increasing desperation.

“Obviously he needs a top quality striker urgently, but he can’t have mine.

“I have a clear message to Alex Ferguson or anyone else who is interested: Read my lips, Louis Saha is not for sale.”

Manager Chris Coleman added: “I have never liked bullies and I don’t like being bullied. That’s why we’re determined to hang onto Louis.”
