Devenney still out for confident Finn Harps, City wait on Devine

FINN HARPS already have silverware in the trophy cabinet this season after landing the First Division Cup at Kildare County’s expense on Wednesday night.

Devenney still out for confident Finn Harps, City wait on Devine

It will mean the Donegal side going into this side brimming with confidence after ending a 28-year wait for success. Yet the first division side, which has scored in every match this season, have still to plan without star midfielder Brendan Devenney, who despite the end of Donegal’s interest in the championship this summer, has opted to concentrate on his Gaelic football career with club side St Eunan’s for the foreseeable future rather than commit to a new deal at Finn Park.

City, who will fly north this morning, have a serious doubt over goalkeeper Michael Devine who has not trained all week having injured his back after taking what manager Liam Murphy described as a nasty fall in training on Monday.

Devine has been receiving treatment every day since and a decision will be made this morning with Noel Mooney standing by for a first start of the season.

Otherwise, it should be the same starting XI that earned a draw with league leaders Bohemians at Dalymount Park last Friday. Left-back Neal Horgan is carrying a knee injury but will start as does leading scorer John O’Flynn who has overcome a hip injury.
