Wright-Phillips fails to impress in soulless, goalless draw
Wright-Phillips had shown what he is really capable of in scoring against Ukraine at St James' Park last August in one of his three previous substitute appearances. This time, however, he seemed stage-struck. Rarely can a player have been so transfixed by nerves on his first international start.
He squandered two clear-cut chances, gave the ball away and by the time he had recovered his composure, his side were being out-manned by Holland in midfield.
