Crouch and Smith in England squad

PETER CROUCH was called up for England’s World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Poland as Sven-Goran Eriksson looked for a temporary stand-in for Wayne Rooney but Emile Heskey and Andrew Johnson missed out.

Eriksson recalled Alan Smith but Scott Parker and Danny Murphy are overlooked again.

In defence, Sol Campbell and Ledley King are back after injury but Stephen Warnock and Matthew Upson were dropped.
