Addicks list Konchesky

THE race is on to snap up Charlton’s England international Paul Konchesky after the Addicks granted his shock transfer demand.

The 22-year-old has become frustrated with boss Alan Curbishley’s preference for veteran Chris Powell (34), who ironically committed himself to the club yesterday, at left-back and shifting him into midfield.

Konchesky is desperate to establish himself ahead of Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge in the England camp and secure his ticket to Euro 2004.

His advisor Andrew Mills had showdown talks with Curbishley over the weekend and the player yesterday demanded to leave.

Mills said: “A lot of Premiership teams either have a problem at left-back or are looking at left-back.”

Powell had been hoping for a two-year deal from Charlton, West Ham or Portsmouth, but has settled for a 12-month Addicks stay .
