Wenger has no back-up plan

ARSENAL coach Arsene Wenger has not made an emergency plan in case a number of his players are banned following incidents after the 0-0 draw against Manchester United.

Wenger has no back-up plan

Wenger said his players over-reacted after the sending-off of captain Patrick Vieira and an injury-time penalty, and would have to be more responsible in the future.

The FA charged Arsenal as a club and six of their players over incidents during and after last month’s premier league draw with the champions.

“For the moment I don’t have an emergency plan. I hope we will succeed in defending ourselves (before the disciplinary committee),” Wenger said. “They have been accused and I will need to have many days to reflect, to see what I will do if a number of suspensions are imposed on us.”

Wenger said Arsenal, who have been handed 52 red cards since he took over seven years ago, had to learn to control their tempers.

“We have showed our Latin temperament in certain situations and have responded to provocation.

“I would say that certain players have been targeted for years, like Patrick Vieira and (ex-Arsenal midfielder) Emmanuel Petit. “It’s up to us to be strong enough not to react to provocation. We must become more responsible, we all know that. That’s the lesson to draw.”
