Reds need victory in Basle

LIVERPOOL need to win their Champions League match with Basle next week after the Swiss side won 2-0 away to Spartak Moscow yesterday.

Basle leapfrogged Liverpool into second place to set up a thrilling Group B decider in Switzerland.

Julio Hernan Rossi claimed his fourth goal of the competition in the 18th minute before Argentinian striker Christian Gimenez sealed the result a minute from time.

Christian Gross’ men must claim at least a point in next week’s final group game against Liverpool to secure their place in the second group phase, whereas nothing less than a win will do for Gerard Houllier‘s side.
