O’Neill wants match-winner Bellamy to stay

The Northern Irishman believes the on-loan Wales international striker again illustrated why Newcastle are demanding more than £5m for him after scoring his seventh goal in nine starts to sink Hearts in the semi-final at Hampden Park.

O’Neill has so far left the player to rediscover his love for the game that he lost following his much-publicised bust-up with Graeme Souness. The club have yet to open talks with Newcastle over making the move permanent but the Celtic boss has made a compassionate plea on behalf of the players and supporters.
