City’s Conna Maradona a goner
Having previously trained with the Dublin club, Kearney was last week deemed to be a free agent by an independent tribunal, meaning that Cork are entitled to no compensation for the move, a decision which chairman Brian Lennox described as “disheartening.”
By contrast, Shelbourne manager Pat Fenlon is delighted with securing the talented winger.
Back from a training camp with his squad in Spain, Fenlon commented: “Having lost Wes Hoolahan to Livingston during the close season, Liam will be the ideal replacement for him on the left wing. He’s an exciting young player who is bound to only get better and will add to our team.”
Kearney was a key player for City manager Damien Richardson during City’s successful championship campaign last season.
