Greening’s ban stands as West Brom lose appeal

JONATHAN Greening’s red card for violent conduct will stand after the West Brom midfielder yesterday lost his claim for unfair dismissal.

Greening was sent off for fighting with Aston Villa’s Liam Ridgewell - who was also sent off - at the weekend and will start a three-match suspension immediately, missing trips to Tottenham and Middlesbrough, followed by Blackburn’s visit to The Hawthorns.

Greening’s absence will be a serious to blow to West Brom’s hopes of maintaining their push for Premiership survival as the 26-year-old has started 29 of Albion’s 32 league games this season since his £1.25m move from Middlesbrough.

Meanwhile, Fulham dropped their claim for Claus Jensen’s wrongful dismissal following the Danish midfielder’s red card for deliberate handball against Bolton.
