Gazza goes for Greenock job

PAUL GASCOIGNE has admitted he is interested in taking over the vacant manager’s job at Greenock Morton.

Gascoigne left Boston last week after spending two months as player-coach at the Coca Cola League Two club.

Since then he has insisted he wants to lose his Gazza nickname and all the associations, as he looks to take his first steps on the management ladder.

Gascoigne said: “There is a job available and you put in you would like to be manager and I was one of them.”

The job at the Scottish League Division Two side became available when previous manager John McCormack was sacked last month after just five games of the league season. Joe McLaughlin was installed as caretaker manager.
