Hungary player dies due to irregular heart beat

A player for Hungary’s national soccer team died of an apparent irregular heart beat after collapsing on the field during a January game.

The attorney general’s office said medical investigators found that Miklos Feher’s blood tests showed no signs of alcohol, drugs, medication or steroids.

The 24-year-old striker for Benfica collapsed during a Portuguese league game against Guimaraes and died at a hospital. Authorities opened a formal inquiry after the autopsy was inconclusive. Feher was signed by Benfica in 2002 and scored seven goals for Hungary in 25 international games.
