ALAN SHEARER was last night installed as firm favourite to succeed Bobby Robson as manager of Newcastle United.

Robson yesterday walked out of St James' Park and wished the man who will replace him every success.

"It has naturally stopped me finishing the job I would have wanted to have done," he said.
