Blatter’s Celtic diplomacy flatters to deceive

FIFA President Sepp Blatter succeeded in stirring up contrasting emotions when he touched upon a couple of contentious issues on his recent visit to Celtic Park.

He visited Glasgow to present Celtic's fans with the FIFA Fair Play Award for last year and in the process revived discussion on the possibility of Celtic and Rangers playing in the English Premiership.

This, as you can imagine, was music to the ears of everybody associated with Celtic and Rangers and, inevitably, to many south of the Scottish border as well.
