United happy to pay the price of Premiership success

MARK VIDUKA’S winning goal for Leeds against Arsenal on Sunday cost new champions, Manchester United, an additional £750,000stg.

United must pay the money to Leeds as part of Rio Ferdinand’s £30m transfer from Elland Road to Old Trafford last year. Under the conditions of the contract, Manchester United agreed to pay a £750,000 pound bonus to Leeds every time Ferdinand helps them win the championship during his five-year contract.

The small print also guarantees Leeds £1m every time Manchester United wins the Champions League and £500,000 for every FA Cup triumph.
