While Lampard was not exactly issuing a declaration of intent to match Arsenal’s incredible unbeaten season, it was certainly a measure of the progress already made under Chelsea’s new boss.
Less than two months into his reign, Chelsea lie second in the Premiership, with just four points dropped in seven games, while they stand top of their Champions League group having beaten the holders Porto at home and won away in Paris.
